Self-Portrait with the Green Ear

1991, canvas, oil, 70x50 cmI painted this piece when I was eighteen years old, right after graduating from art school. I have always liked the artists of the Dutch school of painting, as well as the self-portraits of Albrecht Dürer and Van Gogh. The painting "Self-portrait with the green ear" is a tribute to the classical school of painting and modernism.

Abruption

2006, canvas, oil, 150x75 cm The story of this composition came after my trip to the Muynak town in 2007. This is a fragment of a sad story – an environmental disaster that occurred with the Aral Sea. Once a thriving fishing town, Muynak started to decay slowly as the water retreated. My painting depicts three residents of the town – a girl with her grandparents. Despite the difficult living conditions, they continue to love and dream, trying hard to keep the warmth of family ties.

Selection

2018, canvas, oil, 140x190 cmMankind has existed for millions of years. It is an endless, fatal, incessant string of destinies, births and deaths. From the mist of eternity civilizations, people and religions appear and go into oblivion. The man in his spiritual unreasonableness endowed himself with the functions of a certain "Messiah", who is allowed to plunder and destroy the world around it. In his egoistic naivety, the man believes that this way he may find freedom and prosperity. The tragedy of this action lies in the fact that he seriously believes that he can administer justice and execute selection, decide who has the right to exist and what moral and ethical laws should prevail in society…
